Clearly, this is not what anyone had in mind for graduation. Things changed, plans changed, our daily lives changed, but if we think about it, that is life. Things will not always go how we expect them to and it is upon us to adapt and keep learning from an everchanging environment. At the end of the day, that’s what Ronan has repeated day in and day out throughout our time at Hult: it is all about having a growth mindset.
Yes, it is sad that we are not together, but it is also true that we will come out of this stronger than ever. We are getting prepared to a new way of working, of living. We are becoming more mindful of our mental and our physical health; More caring about our friendships and our families and more open to the unknown. We are getting ready to take upon any challenge we face and tackle it; we are getting ready for the future ahead.
Even when our circumstances have changed, this situation has not and will not take away every moment we lived in uni, those that we hold dearly close to our hearts. Today, I want you to think back on all of the things you have accomplished throughout your life at Hult, all the friendships you made and all the amazing memories you have stored. All the student parties, the traded secrets and the late-night laughter. Take them and treasure them forever.
This sets a precedent for what the future has in store for us and that’s what every new experience is all about. It’s about helping us find a purpose to what we do, helping us find the path we want to take but also to teach us that we can always change our direction and start again.
To the graduating class of 2020, I truly appreciate all the time we had together, all the things each one of you have taught me and all the memories we have built alongside each other. I couldn’t have wished for a better place to spend the best 3 years of my life so far.
Graduating class of 2020, wherever you are in the world, I raise my glass to you, to an amazing future full of accomplished dreams and never-ending growth.
We will celebrate together soon enough, I promise.
